Sometimes I wonder why people would buy something that is just so obviously easy to make yourself. Example: Tom Binns’ safety pin necklace from a couple years ago, which retailed at a whopping $1,175. OK, so it was made with Swarovski crystal and silver-plated, but no matter how much money I made, I’d never pay that much for such a trend-dependent item. Instead, I’ll make it myself with odds and ends and wear my D.I.Y. with pride!
Materials/cost:
- Left-over safety pins from another project
- Mixed metal chains from a broken Forever 21 necklace
- CZ necklace purchased at market ($9.95)
Time: ~45 minutes
